I'm a pretty new driver, and unfortunately I've already recieved 2 speeding tickets. I was reading an article about a study that revealed that only 3% of car accidents are caused by speeding drivers. The text makes a good point when it says "There are nearly 7,000 speed cameras across the country which are unable to detect 'careless or reckless' drivers who cause three times as many accidents." This doesn't make much sense to me. Why are we worrying so much about people speeding instead of trying to hammer down on all the irresponsible drivers actually causing the accidents? I see police cars sitting on the side of the road trying to catch people speeding just about everyday. In my opinion, they should really be sitting outside bars every night waiting for drunken adults trying to drive home drunk. Statistics are very important to me, and the stats say that "16 per cent of all road deaths are a result of drunk driving." That's a lot more than speeding drivers. I personally wish that police officers would pay a little more attention to the people actually causing the problem, instead of everyday citizens driving a little over the speed limit.
